About Noah NJ Bowman
Canadian Fabstract Artist
Born in Vancouver (1988), I always knew I wanted to be an artist, studying detailed pencil portraiture at a young age. At the age of twelve I started to find a passion for painting that followed me through four years at Emily Carr University of Art & Design in Vancouver, BC. In art school I began developing key concepts and dialogues to utilize in painting as contemporary discourse. I received a BFA from Emily Carr University (2010). While studying the arts as a studio artist (2011) I adopted abstraction as an escapism from reality and representation in pictorial space as the obscure activates the subconscious mind. I began negating realistic form, seeing it as a metaphor. This lead me to paint formalism through the deconstruction of the canvas and de-constructing representational form to a definitive gesture.
