Southern California photographer James Fortune documented the personalities and performances that defined rock culture.

His career began with a UPI photograph in 1966 and continued through work as a Navy combat photographer. Fortune photographed The Doors during the Strange Days era, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and many others. More than 150 of his photographs are held by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; his archive spans over 15,000 images.
